Sat February 19th /BIN presents KIM CASCONE with TAYLOR DEUPREE at The
Empty Bottle in Chicago
TAYLOR DEUPREE has long been a recognized and regarded figure within the
electronics scene. And he's been involved on all fronts, including
photography, sleeve design, programming and production. He's collaborated
with artists such as DJ SPOOKY and PROTOTYPE 909 and done work for many
venerable record labels, folks like Shadow, Ninja Tune, Instinct and
Caipirinha. Currently, DEUPREE runs 12k Records and he still records for a
variety of electronic labels. He recently took part in two remix projects:
KIM CASCONE's Blue Cubism and GOEM's Extensie cd. He has a 12" EP of
minimalist techno coming out shortly, as well as two full-length cds in
January on Rastermusic (germany) and 12k.
KIM CASCONE may be best known as the founder of the legendary San
Francisco-based record label Silent. His work has been featured across
varying spectrums over the last decade, under varying monikers with the
most well-known being PGR and HEAVENLY MUSIC CORPORATION, among others.
CASCONE was also involved in 1992's fantastic LSD tribute (or, 50th
birthday/anniversary party) project 'Fifty Years of Sunshine' which
featured works by himself and such luminaries as THE HAFLER TRIO, HAWKWIND
and PSYCHIC TV. CASCONE has emerged from a brief working hiatus (at THOMAS
DOLBY's Headspace Studio, of all places) to again record and produce new
musical projects, the first of which was last year's above-mentioned and
acclaimed 'blueCube( )'.
