Well, w/ all the uproar over the list, i decided to add my .02 (and w/out adding invective directed to any individual list member). My main beef w/ the list is that i come across more crap that interesting reading material. As a result, i often don't read many posts but rather scroll through (the digest) to get to the one or two interesting posts in each digest. Where does the crap come from (?): -people who reply to a particular comment and don't snip everything but the very core of the idea they're responding to. -people who post long lists: radio shows, sales, their record collection contents... -people who post the same message 2 or 3 times...and in the same digest no less. -people who have long &/or cluttered .sig's (i think this one has been remedied, now that whoever had that sig. that scrolled down 2 pages no longer posts or changed his .sig). -people who post encrypted/binary messages to the list -people who don't think before posting &/or respond in a juvenile manner (ie. "Fuck you." "NO, FUCK YOU!") Why don't people post more intelligent & interesting things? (i.e. reviews, debates on a particular issue that are well-thought out). Perhaps because after wading through so much crap, people don't have the time to.

These are actually list server hiccups. I've no idea why it happens, but if you subscribe to the live list instead of the digest you don't see this. OBIDM: If you can find funkier, more soulful techno than the Depthcharge compilation series on Submerge, by all means buy it, but buy the Depthcharge series first. I could write a master's thesis on the track 'Jupiter Jazz' alone. To be honest I think we see refreshingly little of these 3 on this particular list. The other items you mention are true to varying degrees. J ^ James Skilton aka Steady J - steady-j@firefox.co.uk

ah... the ultimate truth. after fishing through 100+ posts a day, i'm amazed that there are enough people that have time to post another 100 for the next day. mostly i just have to go by subjects. i probably read about ten of those 100+. but i'm not totally complaining, because without the ten that i read, i wouldn't have a clue as to what's going on, being released, etc... ObIDM: i bought a panasonic ep last night. who are they, where are they from, are they considered idm, and if so, why? where is the talent? anyone else have any thoughts on this? on a better note, i also picked up cylobian sunset yesterday, and it is fabulous. especially the last two tracks. will loops and breaks ever get a CD release? oh. one more question. why is the cover for the tango n' vectif CD different from that of the LP? just wondering. thanks! alan! __ :::::/\ \:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: ::::/ \ \::::::you make the mistake::::::::::: :::/ /\ \ \:::::you judge a man by his race:::: ::/ / /\ \ \::::you go through life:::::::::::: :/ / /__\_\ \:::with egg on your face:::::::::: / / /________\::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: \/___________/::::::::::-beastie boys::::::::::

When I first listened to "Vakio" I was left with the impression that they slightly fell over the wank/minimalism barrier ... although I can't comment on anything other of their releases ... ______________________________ \_/ "\/\/\__"\/ "\/ "\/\__"\_/ / / / / / / / / / / / / ' / -= Serkul/CYDoNiA =- / /\/> / / / / / / / / / /__ \__/ \_/\__/\__/\/\/\/\/\/ \/
