I listened to the Single Cell Orchestra self-titled release for the first time last night. Very "pretty" stuff, much more along the lines of the "Transmit Liberation" single (which is included). If you like Moodswings and Aphex's lighter work (ie: "On", track #8 AB2, Ambient Works 1) you'll really love this release. This is much more satisfying than the Dead Vent 7 techno-opera (although it was a nice idea). I had a dream last night that Rephlex was going to give away an extremely limited release on a street corner in the U.S. I managed to get myself on the list as #1, so I would get the #1 serial (I don't know why this makes sense). I was in line with some blanched limey who had flown across the pond to get this special release when the bastard took off running for the street corner. Thankfully Grant recognized that this jerk was #2, and I was #1, so there was no problem when we both arrived. Then Grant started handing out food to the poor instead of attending to our trainspotter needs. After that, I woke up. P.S. Grant is a middle-aged gent with a grey beard isn't he? ;-)

i second that praise, an awesome release, very uplifting at times.

speaking of dreams, i had one the other night, that I was at an outdoor rave and Matthew Hawtin (who knows why, I have never seen him) was dj'ing and he pulled out this wicked record which i could fully hear in my dream. So I go up and ask him if this is the new one on Pharma, and he says it is. Just like aphex would say he writes songs in his dreams, has anyone else heard some wicked cuts while catching zzzz's? Then this last nights dream was about the end of the world and me and my brother were the only 2 left on earth. Anyone else notice that the dreams get evil when you sleep cold, and the music does as well. derek

Woo..If only I had some brain implant tape recorder which could record that stuff :).! I recall I had this freaky dream in which I was listening to a (rare?:) ) record which had a kraftwerk mix of Joy Division's "Love will tear us apart" on it. There were no lyrics, only some very cold synthsounds playing the melody of the Joy Division track with planet rock/computerworld electro rhythms behind it. It also had the yellow LP cover of Computerworld, but the computer was replaced by a Korg MS synthesizer. (Which actually looks a lot like the terminal with the heads on the real thing). It really freaked me out in that dream. I woke up thinking...shit...I ain't got that record & it probably doesn't exist either. (Any psychiatrics here who can emphasise hidden meanings ? :) ). ---
