Hola all, I've been an IDM lurker for a long time but I wanted to prod your brains for some ideas... Though I'm usually more into ambient, over the last several years I've run across some intense songs that seemed to burst sraight into my brain. "Brainwaves" from M ^3rd power did it to me, as has some of Josh Wink's tweakin acid.. You know the type I'm talking about... The ones where you *have* to turn up the volume, even if it's already cranked... The wall of sounds that just smash all over you.. Your body starts to twitch involuntarily along with the beat... You know, the kind where you want to set the volume to '11'... *that's* the kind of experience I'm looking for... I'd like to hear suggestions from some of you on this... I don't want to turn this into a thread, just email me some ideas. Gio, I'd especially like suggestions from you as I've liked some of the GOA tracks you mentioned in here. I've heard a few drum'n'bass tracks I liked, but didn't catch the names. I'd prefer cds over vinyl, but if a "must-have" only lives on 12", then so be it... Bonus points if you can suggest cds that have more than one such track... If anyone wants, I can collect the results and pass them along.. Looking forward to melting my brain... br!an -- __ ____ __ ____ __ __ (__==__) /\ \ / \_\ / /\ / \ \ / |\ / /\ (oo) ( moo.) / \_\ / /\ |_| / / /| /\ \ \ / ||/ / / /-------\/ -' / /\ | |\ \/ /_/_ / / / \ \/ \ \ / |/ / / / | || br!an / \/ |_| \ __ \_\ /_/ / \ /\ \_\ / /| / / * ||----|| bloom / /\ ./_/ \ \ \/_/_\_\/ \ \ \/_// / | / / ^^ ^^ \ \/ |_| \ \_\ /_/\ \ \_\ /_/ /|_/ / brianb@imagin.net \__/_/ \/_/ \_\/ \/_/ \_\/ \_\/http://www.imagin.net/~brianb/ I W A N T T O B E L I E V E

I was somewhat disappointed by the response to my 'mind-melting music' request. A total of 4 people took the time to respond to me. I thought the rest of you would be more eager to "spread the word" about the gems in your collections. I'll give this another try. I'm soliciting suggestions for music that blows your mind... music that crecendos and just keeps climaxing... music that punches you right in the gut... music that makes your body involuntarily twitch along with it. Like tweaking acid that you nearly blow your speakers on. Cds prefered, but vinyl is okay if necessary Please drop me a reply.. Just got this 4 days ago, and it is absolutely the best hip hop new release i've heard for a LONG time. Think moody minimalism meets old skool, but most tracks are around 125 bpm or so(roughly), so it's sort of faster and along the lines of chemical brothers pace. Excellent rough arsed hop, speedy in parts and a good D&B acid track on the last side! PICK THIS UP if you like chemical brothers, wall of sound, mo'wax, and Ninja Tune. Khan's "B-Men" Huge, slow breakbeat. Minimal acid at its best. The track never really builds or goes anywhere, it just keeps my head nodding in awe. --------------------------------* --Paul p. "To find your mind, you have to lose it first."

Tweaking acid. Crecendos. Climaxing. eee. Currently spinning on my SLD2.: K-ALEXI - "VERTIGO" (The last track on the B-Side of "All for Lee-Sah" on Transmat records) This is the greatest acid track ever made, even better than Acid Trax. 1x 808. 1x 303. It's SICK, it's Minimal, it's Lo-Fi, it doesn't sound like anything else. it's divine. If you never heard it...then it's about time. It's exactly what you want. Spreading the word, Danwolfe@xs4all.nl http://www.xs4all.nl/~danwolfe.
