No more heavy then the Hidden Camera. Shall we "crash" test them? Speaking of CRASH, his incredibleness, Max Roach and his Quartet came storming through the area this w/e. Several times I caught myself sniffing out potential samples for the likes of the Squarepusher. Check your local jazz listings and get out to hear some *REAL* drums and bass now and then. Teep PS Trainspot tonite will be the host of the Everything But The Girl afterparty. Therefore it will happen downstairs @ Axis. Benny said he's prepared to let this DJ Bandwagon spin J.U.N.G.L.E. Well, I rikey. Thing with square pusher is that he NEVER repeats a break unmodified, so the effect is nearly like a live drummer. A live drummer like Buddy Rich on crack.

Max IS the man. He and Art Blakey both were jungle 40 years ago.

Speaking of 'sample sniffing, another of the Polydor James Brown re-issues, called "In the Jungle Groove" has the "funky drummer" cut that launched a thousand hardcore and hip hop tracks, along with a 3 minute track of just Clyde Stubblefield drumming with James emitting occasional yelps. That and "I Got To Move","Soul Power", and "Hot Pants." HOT PANTS!
