Here is a simple test.
Spanners was _my_ best album of 1995.
According to the above, PUPCD2 is better, therefore it should be the best
album of 1996. Somehow, I can't see this (or hear it).
Am I alone in being very disappointed with Music for Adverts? I so wanted
it to be brilliant, but it isn't. Large parts of it come across as
wilful, with no concession to listener enjoyment. (I don't mean here that
tracks have to be nice - nastiness can be very enjoyable.) It's grown on
me since I first heard it, but where is the 'Psil-Cosyin' or 'Barbola
Work' or 'Chase the Manhattan' or 'Chesh' etc. I get Spanners out
regularly to listen to these chunes - I just can't imagine doing the same
for any of the contents of Music for Adverts.
In other news:
Contrary to earlier reports, Chimera has been spotted (the vinyl, anyway).
Who will have the self-control not to pop any of the bubbles on Gescom 3,
for extra spotter points? Or perhaps you have to pop them all.
