Hello all, I'm a newbie when it comes to ambient and IDM music and I'd like to get some leads on the better C/Ds and records out there. I'm tired of going to record stores and listening to 50+ so-called ambient or IDM records and another 20+ C/Ds and walking away disapointed and empty handed. I have some FSOL, FAX releases, and comps but I'm looking more for the not-so-atmospheric/many-more-beats/groovy/mess-with-your-head kind of music. I really like the stuff Dave Christophere records under LunaSol. That's the kind of music I can really get into. Can anybody point me in the right direction of artists or labels or specific tracks that have that sound? Any specific tracks I should hear? Let me know... PS: I heard somebody mention Soul Oddity on this list. They're quite good live, even though I can only get into the third track in their disc. They're from where I go to school -- Miami! :)
