I was playing "Threads" to a person yesterday and surprisingly he knew about the IDM list: "Oh, it's that mailing list where all the big artists lurk around under pseudonyms. I subscribed to it a few years ago." He told me that both members of Underworld and Orbital had been on the list, but that they eventually changed their Internet addresses since they received too much mail. It's an fascinating thought, that our messages are read by the artists we discuss, and that those who we discuss something with might be celebrities. darren emerson used to be on the list. he posted plenty of public mail though, he wasn't trying to hide or anything. i asked paul hartnoll about the internet back around the time of snivilisation and he said he wasn't on and didn't have the time to get into it. don't know what that proves, really... not much of anything, i guess! /j/ I used to be "with it", but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't "it", and what's "it" seems WEIRD and SCARY to me. It'll happen to YOU!

They did have an address for a while, and weren't subscribed to much of anything (I know they were on the Orbital list for a while). I specifically warned them about making their address public, so it never got the besiegement of mail that Thrash unfortunately got. When I talked to Paul at Organic, he said that they hadn't paid their bill on their account, so it had just fallen by the wayside. I've been trying to get them another (free) account, but apparently Demon wants them to publish the address in exchange. Can any other list-limeys be of assistance with this?
