I was referring to the legions of old men that sit around and wait for trains to go by, writing each one down, cataloging their numbers trying to catch those rare appearances.

They are not all 'old' men. The other day, whilst listening to Aphex on my walkman, a young man (notebook in hand) sat next to me, straining to look through me out of the window everytime a train passed. With a satisfied look he wrote the numbers down. After a while he sat opposite me and gave me some enquiring looks. I thought he was interested in the music so I told him more about Aphex, idm and the use of the term trainspotter. However, he was mesmorised by the fact that I was wearing leather boots in summer. He seemed to want to know everything about leather boots. Peculiar fellar ... Helen
