It's a great disc, though not exactly what I'd first expected. Essentially, it's several tracks all beat mixed together, or for the slightly pessimistic, it's simply one long 4/4 track with a little bit of tweaking and rhythm alteration to keep the listener entertained. It's well done, but just a tad long... 60 minutes of the same one track. The back cover shows these bars with times, indicating that there's all these songs that cross over each other in the mix. This may be the case, but to my mind it's maybe a total of five long songs. I paid a lot of money for something that is quite repetitive, and sometimes uninspired. There are *some* tracks on it that fade in that are really really cool, but you might listen to big chunks of it and go, "hunh... Trance... So what?"

Ashok asks: : Anyone heard the G Man full-length on Swim? Opinions, reviews, : foamings-at-the-mouth requested. I've got it. I'd have to say it's probably not for everyone (tp, stay away!) but if you like it dark, minimal, and relentlessly monochromatic this is for you. It's got all the "hits" (at least around here "Turtle", "Sparticus", "Quo Vardis" and "Mars" have been DJ staples), in a continuous digital mix courtesy of Mark Gage. It's all echoey textures and massively 4 on the floor [hence my warning to Aran ;) ], but it booms like a monster. There's a _major_ Basic Channel influence, too, though Gez's timbres aren't as deep (IMO). -d.w.
