I got a copy of the Terrible 12" that just came out on One Little Indian.
Well, speaking for the Hannant side of things, he once again has
demonstrated his inability to stay still for very long. This EP is a pretty
big shift from the material he's done even on Sculptured. Personally, it's
not my style, even though Bullet can spit out a pretty mean rap. The second
track on side 2, 404, is more accesible in my opinion and much more in the
realm of IDM.
The track with the rap is just that: Rap. It lacks any of the elements that
both Brown and Hannant COULD bring to it that would elevate it into an
excellent and ground breaking piece of music. One example of this, I was
thinking the other day, would be if someone rapped over Squarepusher's UFO's
over Leytonstone, which is an AWESOME track in itself. In fact, IMO UFO's
and Tundra are some of the best tracks off of Feed Me. I can't wait until TJ
releases some more stuff in this vein...when someone posted that TJ has great
potential for some ambient material, he wasn't kidding!!
