Ever since Harald posted his list of all-time electro tracks, I've been thinking about how good it would be to expand that idea into a larger project. I am thinking along the lines of the sample list at the breaks site in compiling a list of as many electro tracks, their artists, labels, etc. as we all can come up with and putting them up on the web or something where interested folks can browse and see what is out there, what has come before, what they don't have, and, in the future, what those who contributed make of the tracks, in the form of capsule reviews or something (sound bites?). My aim here is to have as comprehensive a discography as I can put together that traces from hip hop's toddlerhood to the present mutations and direct descendants. If y'all could make lists of as many as you feel like (in the best of all worlds, you would drag out your extensive collection and transcribe the lot) and email them to me, I'll put it all together and come back in a few with a url for the results and it's subsequent updates. c-ya and tia, eric onnow: hat (rather interesting) <- idm supergroup album of the season

My CD collection (400+, mostly electronics) is in Word 6 format. I could send it to you in whatever form you'd like (technology permitting). My vinyl (500+) is still uncatalogued, but stretches from synthpop to present day. I think it might be a useful way to get your project started with a hefty bunch of data! Other saddoes who have also spent time transcribing their collections will understand the work that goes into it - it was done, however, not for anal retentive reasons, but to provide me with an account of my collection for insurance purposes. Well, that's my story, and I'm sticking to it! Andy Jackson
