quoted 1 line When was your label found, and where?
>When was your label found, and where?
---Ok,the store was open October 1994 and the first Temple record
came out in the beggining of 1995,it took us few months to get the store
going, and then we had some money,we started producing records, and the first is
CUBE40 which is Jammin Unit from Air Liquid and myself. And you know,it is a
funky acid sort of record.
quoted 1 line Tell me more about your artists?
>Tell me more about your artists?
----So far we have 4 releases on Temple Rec,no 1 is CUBE40,no2 is Black One,it
is two guys from Cologne(Germany),no 3. the record I did, there is only one copy
which is in Australia,it was sold for over $500,it was on the auction. It is a
picture disk,it is one-off record,it is one side, and the other is just a
picture.
quoted 1 line Where are your artists from?
>Where are your artists from?
-They are friends of mine --pretty much ,so far. They are from Germany, some of
them are from NY,from America, like I work with Tomadry he is from Plus 8 Rec. it
is in Toronto,Canada.
quoted 1 line What were you doing before you organized a record label?
>What were you doing before you organized a record label?
--I was spending my money in New York,i was doing like all kinds of things,i
made few soundtracks in Germany it was like 4-5 years ago,and the money I made
with that soundtracks,i moved to NY and just spent it in two years.i was
recording tracks,and I did a few films.
quoted 1 line What made you move from Germany, where electronic music is more popular to
>What made you move from Germany, where electronic music is more popular to
NYC,where it is much more harder to make electronic music?
---Yes,you know Germany is much bigger scene, you can earn money much easier,i
could earn money,i mean I can play every weekend in a club,i can have tons of
work, but I was kind of bored.
Germany is a nice ,cute little country and I was just bored :cute and boring.I
didnt really want to move to NY,but I stayed here for 4 years now.Sometimes I
like ,sometimes I hate it.
quoted 1 line Is there anythign else in your label, except for the music?
>Is there anythign else in your label, except for the music?
---No,no it is only about art and fun,you know life should be art,a art should
be fun.
quoted 1 line Do you listen to Demo tapes?
>Do you listen to Demo tapes?
---I dont really ask them,i dont really want them, but if someone gives me a Demo
tape I ll listen to it.I know if I dont like I dont get back to them, because you
know I didnt ask for the tape and I dont feel responsible for it.
Do you usually offer to musicians to send you a Demo tape?
---No!I mean sure you can send me a tape it is cool, but you know I want to know
people, music is a very private thing, usually tapes I get they are really awful,i
dont want to be arrogant or something, but it is totally different
direction,people think if Allright you are a label,so you do everything,but I
am totally narrow, because I just want what I like.
quoted 1 line How would you rather describe the records, which you make?
>How would you rather describe the records, which you make?
---On Temple Rec. it is very much in New York sound,it is a techno label, for me
it sounds very much like NY style,it is a kind of tribally, and danceable. We do
some other stuff like XXC3,which is a record label from Cologne,it is very
expiremental, one of our editions it is called XXC3 Temple Records,it is just
like noise anything weird crazy, expression of anything. (there is a new one out
a great piece for every IDMers collection it is a collaboration beetween Can
and Walker,yellow vinyl -A.A.)
quoted 1 line Looking into the electronic music evolution since Kraftwerk and,how do you
>Looking into the electronic music evolution since Kraftwerk and,how do you
imagine to yourself electronic music development in the next few years?
-----It is like different movement or different development, like after all these
originatives like Kraftwerk and stuff, everything was pretty much like song and
arrangment ,and all that was gone for a while, techno it was like no more
harmony,there was a tradition,there was pretty much a beat,like measure 4/4,and
I see one development which is going back, and I see one development which going
further and further, for example: you can do a dance track you want people just
dance to it,or you can do a real art.and that is what move todays music.
quoted 1 line Dont you afraid that electronic music would became very popular, like
>Dont you afraid that electronic music would became very popular, like
alternative now.and all progressive would loose interest to it,because it will
became a mainstream?
----It depends of what you do,if the music is interesting and it is an honest
music, and it is allright with me if it will became mainstream, because I dont
want to hear this crap on the radio.
quoted 1 line Dont you think that peple would get tired of it,if they will hear in every
>Dont you think that peple would get tired of it,if they will hear in every
store and a radio station?
-----Well it is a kind of very flexible,i mean it is already like this in
Germany, that why I dont consider myself like techno anymore, it is just like
electronic music, and it can go in any direction,i do disco stuff sometimes, all
this BIZZ O.D. stuff is mostly disco,i call it disco music produced today, The
Global Electronic Network, stuff I do it is more like concept thing.
quoted 1 line What other releases of Temple Rec. we will see in the nearest future?
>What other releases of Temple Rec. we will see in the nearest future?
---The next Temple Rec. release is a Gizz TV, and Madonna 303 record, which is
like hard acid,Madonna 303 are two guys:one from Berlin and one fron Cologne, and
Gizz TV that is me,it is really hard tribal track,a very long one.
quoted 1 line Do you distribute your production somewhere outside the US?
>Do you distribute your production somewhere outside the US?
---We distribute them only to France,to the people we know,it works so far,we
are not making so many records you know.
quoted 1 line Is it still Underground?
>Is it still Underground?
----Oh Yeah! It is very underground, whatever that means-haha!
