And those wonderful heartbreaking synth melodies hit closer to center than what Chris Jeffs and Mike P. have tried to do emulating the same thing. What I love about the album is how he takes the best parts of all the music he's interested in: RDJ's melodies and playfullness, the beats of drum'n bass, the 303 from acid, the spontaneity and groove of jazz. There's a little of everything, from straight out floor stomping breakbeat (remember those records RDJ used to make at R&S?), to ambient interludes, even a trip-hop track that I must say grooves harder than any other I've heard in a while. Rephlex really fucking came through with this one. I must say I agree with all of Grant's promises and boasting before. I think Squarepusher is going to be around for a long time. From the sound of it, I think he might have an excellent ambient colllection in him, or perhaps a straight out trip-hop record. I can't wait... /""'' /"'RESH Live and Direct from the G-Spot Orange County, California, USA

Astute. All ye of little faith take heed of this: remember the reaction to Tango 'n' Vectif on its arrival? For most people, utter confusion was the order of the day. And now? A classic, for sure. If the same does not happen to Mr Pusher, once people begin to understand just exactly what the hell he's up to (and I dare say many never will), then I'll eat my slipmat - and that's a promise. I just got a copy of "Feed me weird things" yesterday, and I'd definitely say I'm impressed. I actually prefer this a lot more than the 12" simply because his style works well as an album, while the 12" left me yapping for more. Some of my favorite tracks on the album include "Tundra" "Smedley's Melody" and "Kodack" though I must say, there is one hell of a RDJ influence on a lot of these tracks. All that weird heavy bass, especially the soft synth in Tundra just oozes RDJ. Oh, that's a good thing. :) I'm impressed. Thanks Grant! You spotted some nice talent, and "Feed me weird things" really soars high in quality and listening pleasure. ObPlug: I got the Plug 1&2 CDEP yesterday...and I'm not too sure how to feel. Being a bit of a vibert fan, I had expected a lot more than what I got on this disc. I hope the album comes together better...after all, while D&B is such a unique format, I have yet to hear an album of it that really is successful (as that subtropic cd definitely wasn't). Mind you, I haven't heard T Power, and but I have heard Goldie (yecch!) I don't really want to catagorize this Squarepusher album as a d&b album, cuz there's so much more than simple breaks. Now if only he'd do more tracks like Tundra.
