I agree, but hunting it down is no longer neccessary as both Gescom 1&2 have been rereleased this monday! Hurrah. It think Gescom 2 (Snackwitch/Mag) is ace too, though. Now all that remains is for them to release the new Gescom 12" and the Autechre remixes, as promised. For all those enquiring about the mail order 12", I thoroughly reccommend it. It has 2 trax. Both probably not as harsh as some of the stuff on 'Tri'. Contains more melody like Incunabula, but uses the staticy clicks and hisses that made Tri and Anvil so damn fresh. Both tracks seem to be playable at both 33 and 45 rpm, but I prefer the latter as it gives them a jungly feel. The artwork is a sort of browny gold shiny sleeve with the same sort of writing found on the Tri inner sleeves ie Autechre WAP74 or whatever. It also has that line going through the text. Pretty minimal (to reflect the music, I expect) but top designers republic stuff as usual.

Waaa! Haven't got this yet, but want it. Also never got around to buying that Nav Katze LP which I've heard and is ace. The Ultramarine mixes are great too. I say this because they are severly underrated on the IDM/Dance music scene. Anyone else out there love their stuff? If you see their first LP buy it cos its an absolute classic summery album. The latest one does it too, a real distinctive sound which moves on totally from their other stuff.

No, but I hear its a compilation of their earlier EPs, which of what I have heard, have been pretty good. Melodic accessable techno which would now probably be lumped in with all that Robert Miles/Goa Trance shite!

Me too. The great thing about people signing to major labels is that their singles are usually really cheap (ie 2 or 3 quid), rather than the 5-6 pounds you seem to have to pay for jungle 12"s these days. And to whoever said there was a Photek LP already on promo, I'm not sure this is true. I think some people took the Hidden Camera doublepack to mean doublepack as in LP.

Pah! What do people not like about the second one, anyway? Jega is still growing like fungal spores on me. The last track is a real killer! In with the in....

The artist name is Plug, the title is Plug 1&2, the label is Blue Angel (a Rising High subsiduary), and the full names of Plug 1&2 are Visible Crater Funk and Rebulit Kev respectively.

True, but who needs video with their IDM anyway. It just detracts from the music. Personally one of the best things for me about all music is that you can listen whist doing other things. And I'd certainly rather do other things than watch tedious fractal graphics for the duration of a track/song. The purpose of videos are to get music across to wider TV audience, which is not the point of most IDM or independant music. Videos in general suck, even that WARP one is beginning to look outdated!

Or into the vast cyber-void, just like their planned releases :-) Having said this I have acquired a promo copy of the new Leo Anibaldi LP called (coincidentally) Void. There hasn't been much said about this artist or release, so here goes. I have the CD version and contains 11 tracks (no tracklisting was included). The overall feel of the LP is very dark. Some of the tracks are techno-ey in style, others have a real ethnicy feel. Theres a lot of variation on the LP but it still feels like a LP, which is a pretty hard thing to do. Track lengths vary from the shortish (2 mins) to the epic (14 ish mins). The last track seems to be 3.03 minutes of silence. Its certainly not easy listening, but its extremely intriguing. Some of the static intros and interludes remind me of the sound on a film called Videovoid (which is excellent by the way) in the way that it seems to pick up the sound of machines working eg the sound of a computer processor drawing something on the screen. Also reminds me (in feel rather than actual musical content) of the Andrea Parker 12" on Mo'Wax. Overall I recommend the LP highly to anyone who likes their music harsh and sparse, with strange rhythms and noises. Certainly sounded better than the Kinesthesia LP but then I only skipped through that in a record shop. By the way its supposedly out properly on the 27th of June.

Regarding this release, it seems to be one of those rare cases of a record being easier to find in America that the UK (due to it being on R&S I expect). I have the release, but at the time it supposedly came out I only saw it on import. Good extra tracks though, which are tons nicer than I thought on first listen.

Doubtful considering he didn't touch their last two singles.

The whole thing was one of Mike Ps best productions. His other remixes have been sadly lacking though, I thought.

Quite possbily very shite indeed. In the charts as I speak and yes its the work of the KLF. Aint heard it and don't wanna hear it. KLF lost it a long long time ago...

Is this not Secret Liason on LTJ Bukems Good Looking label? Also, is it not already out?

Wahooo! When, when, when, is what I want to know. Hope the remixes are as smart as past Mo'Wax ones (eg Plaid/Autechre/Krust and Size/Chameleon)

Got this on promo. In the same vein as the Radio 12". Four tracks of bashing things against a mike made into techno (two - Electic Guitar and The Cough - are collaborations with Tom Middleton of Global Comms (AKA Rebus Project)) plus a track which disects Formula 1 Commentary by Murray Walker and that other bloke. The Cough is by far my fave on this EP and is similar in style to Rose from Radio. Don't care too much for the techno made out of silly sounds idea, although I feel much more could be done in this area. Matts original percussion sounds just don't 'kick' like Autechre et als.

More Riot Beats style hardcore jungle I think... Not like Hypermodern Jazz anyway.

Seen this on promo too, but unwilling to investigate due to the lameness of the last LP. Listened to Newbuild today and realised how diluted their sound has become. Hope the new LP is ace as they really are techno heroes of the highest calibre.

Didn't know, actually. Anyone spot the 808 State sample on Prodigys 'Music For The Jilted Generation'? I didn't until today!

Dunno the cat no. But if we are talking Manix as in Mark of 4 Hero/Jacobs Optical Stairway, then I would expect the label to be Reinforced... .......
