Germ-PARROT General Production Recordings GPR LP 14 2xLP (c) 1995 GPR Tracks: Parrot Fug Trias Isocrud Oh! SUN Tish Sluekep Owt Asp Parrot(Reprise) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sorry for my lateness in reviewing this one, everything went all goaish! Anyway, Tim Wright & Co. go completely mental for this release, and I still can't seem to make light of it! His production work is really good, in a abstract electronic sense, but PARROT is by far the weirdest release I own this year. 'parrot', 'owt', and 'asp' have a lot in common with the early AFX/Aphex Twin releases by being very "out there" weird abstract pieces, more for industrial art gallery shows, or alley gatherings...I did dig the vibe of 'fug', and 'slukep', with it sounding like a jazz album being eaten alive by effects process, modulators, and various cut-up equipment. These two are the best of the tracks on the album, and is worth keeping the album in my box for regular rotation. "it's owt ov da loop..." Yeah, o.k..... 'tish' is like that track on AB4 where RDJ is screaming throughout the track...Come on, we can do better than this, folks! Only in Tim's case, it sounds like a bird of some sort.(haven't we gone down this road before???) For a better understanding of Tim's work, check his earlier release GONE, or his material on EQUANIMITY. Recommended tracks: 'tknoh' 'pash' Derek Jordan 6/10 Next Up:Biorhythms(NETWORK RECORDS) LATER TONIGHT!
