Does anyone know what the status of Rising High USA is? Is this a seperate entity or are they basically the same label? The Wagonchrist Redone EP on Rising High USA with the extra track was a fucking brillant release (for $6!!). Is this the only 12' they've released stateside? /""'' /"'RESH Live and Direct from the G-Spot Orange County, California, USA

Well then, are Rising High having a comeback? After hearing rumours of them going bankrupt I was surprised to pick up a flier for a club night to celebrate the release of Further Self Evident Truths 3 a compilation featuring the likes of Wagon Christ, Techno Animal, Irresistable Force, and so on. So I go along and have a wicked time. Mixmaster Morris, played a killer set, building up from chill hip hop through techno and into tearing hardstep crazy killer jungle. Criminey. Not to mention Luke Vibert funking it up in the bar with some obscenely groovy old moog records and such like. All in all a bonus night, so when I saw the compilation I bought it and heres my review: Its good! Standout track - An incredible mix of Waveform off Global Chillage, (the one with McKenna wittering on in his usual fashion) Morris has cut up the vocals and the tune stuck 'em back together in a different order, and layered some wonderfully chill drumnbassy breaks on top. Magic. Wagon Christ gives us another gem of laid back breaks, along side a more frenetic offering from Plug. Bedouin Ascent gets all Plug like on his track, and Techno Animal wierd it up at the end with serious acid squelches and slow heavy beats. All in all an up to the minute compilation, (and I've only mentioned half the tracks) after that Waveform song I can't wait for MMM's new record. Cheers Andrew C.

I don't think rising high have actually gone under. They have certainly been low-key since last summer, but there have been a couple of releases like, Secret life of Trance 6, The Hypnotist - house is mine '96 remixes, and Union jack - red herring (the remixes). None of these were released in large volumes, but they are all still pretty decent releases. Phil Downey onnow: Spaceman 3
