UK IDMers I heard that there are some good techno related shops in Berwick St, London. Is this off Oxford St, and if so where? Please reply to me and not the list. Has anyone got or heard Diskont 94 by Oval, or anything by Oval? I ordered it and it still has not come in yet, and the review I read of it made it sound quite interesting. Cheers Andrew Thompson

Diskont 94: This was the first thing I bought by Oval and it so happens that I bought it from Ambient Soho in Berwick St. I was slightly disappointed with this album because it is not very long (45 mins) and the first track is over 20 minutes long, and a shortened version is also included. The style of this track (Do while) is quite nice with a strong ambient feel but I wish it did not take up so much of the album. The remaining tracks I like much more. They are much more like Systemisch. Systemisch: My other Oval album (thank you Fat Cat). This I feel is more complete than Diskont as it is longer and has reasonable track lengths. But the tracks! Fucked up is one way to describe them since it sounds like they have been deliberately engineered so that they sound like they have not been engineered. I love the music to death but I have never heard anything so speaker-unfriendly. Some of the tones make my Kef Coda 8s sound like their are crying out in pain! Berwick St.:It's off Oxford St. near Oxford Circus -Ed

Get the double vinyl version, it includes the cd plus four remixes of Do While by Scanner, Mouse On Mars, Christian Vogel and Jim O'Rourke, and these are quite good! Karl-Michael.

yo idmers, WAY back i had the pleasure of seeing rdj spin before a bjork concert that took place in early August '95 at the Metro in Chicago. i was pretty intrigued by what i heard and wondered if anyone could help me out with the playlist. (yeah, it's been halfayear, but i figured i'd try) also, tortoise just played champaign, illinois tonight and they were nearly upstaged by the house playing a plug promo in the interim. but nonetheless, twas a great show. those boys have it together. 10ks, mj * * * * * * * )) ) * ( ( ( * _O )WW( ___________(]])__WWWW_______________ -- XXXX those sad, sad campfire songs...
