Since the electro thread always seems to be coming up, and people on this list remember way more than I do, perhaps somebody can ID my favourite 80's electro track. Pretty simple beat, nothing special. But the entire track is made up of samples of news broadcasts following JFK's assassination. Brilliant stuff, the thing that may stand out most in people's memories is 'Jackie's scream'. I am pretty sure the track is called 'The Motorcade Rolled On.' So: Can anybody give me the dope on this? Who is it? Where can I find one? it was on a CD compilation a few years back called "The death of vinyl." (label DOVentertainment). I don't know if it is still in print. _____________________________ ~bleep~

"The Motorcade Sped On" Also appeared on a free 7" with NME many moons ago (this is the form I have it in). A wonderful piece. There's a Japanese compilation called NO RIGHTS GIVEN OR IMPLIED: THE ORIGINAL SAMPLERS that has a lot of Steinski stuff. This is supposed to be available through Ninja Tune mail-order; you can find it in the catalog at their web site. However, I don't know anyone who has actually ordered or received this CD. It may be vapor-ware. BTW, the track in question is called "The Motorcade Sped On." It was also released on a free 4-track ep with an issue of NME many years ago. Hope this helps. -- Mark Turner mturner@netcom.com

The track which you seek is by Steinski and Mass Media, brilliant cut up stuff, also responsible for the Gulf War tribute "It's up to You". You can get this and many more of their tracks (as well as some stellar old Coldcut tunes) on "Various-No Rights Given Or Implied", sort of a semi-official release available from the fine folks at Ninja Tune.
