Further along this line is some of the Shi-Ra-Nui stuff - although the
_Shi-Ra-Nui vs. Sub Rosa_ is hardly exciting, it is an interesting and
sometimes challenging listen; just not the remixes. I believe the Ruf
Neck Piano _Repaired Piano_ album came out on Shi-Ra (too lazy to look),
and is basically a lot of seriously deranged piano jazz/edited hip-hop.
And that's stretching it. All of that means I highly recommend it.
All the Shi-Ra stuff seems to take Vadim's non-lateral hypothesis to the
break(beat)ing point. Stretched and airy lack of beats abound. Speaking
of Vadim, Jazz Fudge put out a comp in collaboration w/ P-Vine in 1997
entitled _DJ Vadim Presents Sculpture and Broken Sound_ (at one time to
be pressed by Silent/Pulse Soniq), that although it mainly focuses on
Jazz Fudge playas, features Ruf Neck Piano (and a Vadim remix of
Faultline's "Partyline Honey").
Anybody heard the albums _Broken Bells_ and _Charred Bells_ on Shi-Ra (I
believe)? I'd love to see a review ...

Maybe that's who NItzer Ebb was singing about ... and I always thought it
was a take off of Butthead's name ; )

In my limited interaction with Japanese musics, I am believing this more
and more with exposure to each additional album. Tis' a pity all the cds
cost around $23 US, though.
