Hello friend, my name is Christian and I live in Paris. I belong to the IDM list since eight months, and you've never heard of me. More, I send this first message to tell you about the birth of our site : NirvaNet (http://www.nirvanet.fr) - quite a huge site in french, english and spanish, a mix-up of cyber, zen and techno with Real Audio 2.0 empowered tunes by Radio Mentale (a very IDM french deejay team), Global Communication, Spacetime Continuum, Kode IV, Solar Quest, Total Eclipse and much more to come. Like I said to Global Com Ben, I'm not very at ease with this spamming of sort (Nirvanet is on line since 18 days now, and I just informed GoaNet mailing list about out Goa Faq (I wanted to know how Indians would react, and it's been wonderful!), but I feel the whole idea of the site is global communicating, and I didn't figure any better way to tell you all that we're here, waiting impateintly for your reactions, comments, criticisms, collaborations (with music, for instance). So, please, forgive this message if you think it's intruding or adverse to the spirit of the list. I guess it would be different if I was more involved in the life of the list, but as you'll see for yourself by visiting Nirvanet, these 1000 pages of cyber life were too demanding to leave me much time to participate, and the 2 of us don't have any money left to go uptown and buy records. So, I don't have much to say to help you IDMers. Everybody on the list seems so wired on the last tunes that I prefer to stay silent, and learn from what I read :-) Many of you are linked (and commented! tell me if your sites have been dramatically revamped, or even moved to another URL...it's hard to keep tracks of everything) in our Electronic deejays section : Mixmaster Morris, Erkki Rautio [sorry, but my "DJing" is only limited to my own domestic facilities at this moment -ER :)], g303 for instance... We're also involved in Techno graphic designs (check our very big Visual FX pages) - any contribution would be appreciated to spread further this part of the Techno Ballroom. For instance, coinciding with the publishing of "High Flyers" (a book about english tekdesign), we'll create a new page with its material very soon. And we'd really like to do more about Japan (eh! friends of the Ambient Web in Tokyo), or Sahko designers (this is for Arctic News providers ;-) And... best is to leave you now. It's always the same - silent people always end up talking too much. Maximum respect to all of you. One last word : NirvaNet is very much Netscape 2.0 (don't want you to be disappointed, we just have 2 pages accessible through 1.0 browser!), and you want to pick up our Techno Ballroom section on the map. But the rest is enjoyable too... Amities, Christian Another word of excuse - this letter was supposed to be published on the list, hence its non-private character. But I can't manage to send it! I must do something wrong : idm@hyperreal.com always goes back to me as a wrong adress. This is more personal - would you consider picking up one of your mixes/tunes that would go along one of our universes (Cyberlab, Combat Zone, Digital Shrine or Base Internet, whatever, it's just a question of mood). We'd be very happy (oh yes!) to real audio encode it and play it to the world. You could also use it from your site by directing people on our server. That's what we do when we link sites who contributed with a sound - like Global Communication, that you can visit from our site while listening to teir tune in RA. Peace :-*) ______________________________________________________________________________ www.nirvanet.fr / www.nirvanet.com "cyberzen is a state of mind without trademark" ______________________________________________________________________________
