Here's the deal: To do my part in improving the state of the IDM list I will do something I normally don't take the time to do, try to write a review for you all to absorb. I hate writing about music, so please notice the sacrifice that I am making for your benefit... ;) Also, don't expect any amazing piece of writing either, I'm horrible at writing reviews. Quench : A Journey into Electonix : U-Cover Records The press release that s://kimo sent out about this release said it was actually Funckarma in disguise, but I have my doubts. The tracklisting itself states that the first track is 'refuncked' by Funckarma, but that does not mean that the entire CD is by him/them. The tracks on the CD are too 'instrumental' to be Funckarma (I think). A nice mixture of glitchy sounds, guitar samples in places, some Indian influences in places, heavy-beets(tm), melodic interludes, vocal samples (I swear I remember hearing vocal samples earlier, but I can't find 'em now, I may have been dreaming). Reminds me of a combination of Foreign Terrain meets Lexaunculpt meets Fennesz meets generic hip-hop DJ, sort of. Overall: (e^pi)/sqrt(7) out of 10 hess --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Well, I'm not going to comment on the Funckarma mystery, but this is a *really* nice CD. It also seizes the crown for "most infuriating CD to put in your CD player" as it's completely blank! Gar! I like it more than Hess does, I give it 0xC stars. If you thought the Autechre LP5 CD was annoying, wait until you see this one... you have to look at the matrix numbers to figure out which side is up (the type should face DOWN, so it looks backwards if you're looking down at it in your player.) Since this is a more limited release, I think the list will be spared a repeat of the "D00d! There's a trippy image on the Ae CD!" thread. All praises etc etc. .Bil.
