Well if you're into Alex Reeceish Jungle, check out The Revolutionary Generation compilation on Moving Shadow which features Reece and a few of his peers. The new UFO (if you mean United Future Orginisation) does contain a new Alex Reece remix on one of the two 10' but thats all of I've heard from them. For some REALLY awesome jungle keep your eyes out for the forthcoming Plug full length release by Luke Vibert. Also, I've been listening to this really bizarre album by Lee Perry called Super Ape in the Jungle which has some really fucking awesome and bizarre stuff on it. Lee Perry is the producer of several Bob Marley records and one of the creaters of dub/reggae music. Find it if you can. -Fresh

Would certainly recommend material by T Power (really excellent new one - Police State), Squarepusher, Plug (Luke Vibert-Wagon Christ, etc...), Kid Loops (released on Filter - sub label of Dorado), Jacobs Optical Stairway - Tek 9 (new tunes slightly more jazzy, older tunes more drum and bass) or for that matter anything by Dego and Marky, Subtropic (on Spacetime's , Reflective), most tunes on Reinforced, Precious Material, Renegade, Celluloid, Certificate 18, Juice Box, Looking Good / Good Looking, Timeless, Razors Edge (excellent new Goldie / Photek disc just out), Language (Endemic Void), Leaf (Boymerang, Luger), Lo Recordings (Slack Dog). Good comps = Promised Land (excellent Bukem mix), the Artcore series, but lets face it most of the good tunes are vinyl only (sorry, couldn't resist the cheap stab at the ongoing debate)... and now for the cheap plug, we also recommend the 12"'s that we're releasing on our label, Discreet / Indiscreet Music, by Montrealer David Kristian. Sort of Sci-fi meets Lo-fi in a drum and bass style. First ones called Clubfoot, and watch for a new one next month called National Kid, with many more to follow. Hope that helps Jeff and Linus (your Discreet Pals always watching out for the kids)

Greetings, I have been recently getting more and more into jungle. I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations they may be willing to share with me! As a rough (very) guide I enjoy Alex Reece, Wax Doctor and some of the more "jazzy" style jungle, but am open to experimentation. I have heard that Photek is good, and that he has 5 12", numbered (funnily enough) 1 to 5! Are they worth looking for. What is his new UFO 12" like? Any recommendations, including compilations, would be appreciated! I hope some of you can help. Regards, Paul. <pmiddlet@nla.gov.au>

Maybe his best so far. All the other PKT-releases (his own Photek label) are worth buying to say the least. (ahum) But there is more ... He released more than 35 records so far. Oops. Except for the PKT's and the "Natural born killer EP" on Metalheads (which is quite different than the PKT's, more usual) i've never seen them. There are some rumours he's also Aquarius on Looking good (or Good looking) but it sounds shite... Check also the remix EP of Attica Blues. Excellent Photek mix! ... (oh wow a msg about jungle and i didn't even mentioned PLUG)
