And finally he came over to my city (Eindhoven, The Netherlands), playing in 'De Effenaar'. Well I thought this was gonna be a good night. I was wrong. OK, I have no problems with his music but there IS difference between playing live and let the people just hear your samples you have made in a studio or somewhere. He came up, checked his setup, and there he goes... Playing a bit with his mouse, clicked here and there, pressed some buttons, AND THAT WAS IT!!! Nothing more, and sorry but this is not what i expects from a live-gig. This was very very very boring, what a dull guy. And the people? Well it seems they enjoyed it. By the time he was playing some jungle-ish stuff the dancefloor was going wild. But he stand behind his setup, didn't even smile or something. He ended, the people were screaming... and he just raises his hand and that was IT! I was glad the DJ's made the night a bit better. 'nuff said! Eric. -- Eric van de Leur Philips Semiconductors B.V. such a dull guy that he was once reponsible for one the best live sets I've ever seen. and so dull no-one will be interested to learn he is supporting Orbital on their UK tour in a few months time. g.

I saw him, as u-ziq, play to about 50 people, and it wasn't that good. But a few months later he appeared as Jake Slazenger at the same place (Glasgow Barrowlands), and he was appreciated by ~500 or so, who all got down to his funky noodlings. When he plays these days, does he draw a line between u-ziq and Jake, or can we expect to see a bit of everything thrown in? Rob.

The Wish Mountain "We're Back" EP showed up locally EV003, and I must say that Mr. Royal Wedding has done a brilliant job with his voice, cheeks, kitchen cutlery, the washing machine lid on this disc. A feast of homemade sounds that is at the same time smooth and elegant. Damn! Is this a different release from the _Radio_ EP released about a month or two back? Can you hit us with a tracklist, perhaps? :) - Matthew

It might well be. You could check the GC web pages for information. I don't rightly know any track names -- the writing is so teeny and my eyes are so bad! All I know is that I kept flipping it over and playing it through at 4AM this morning. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Every revolution evaporates and leaves behind only the slime of a new beauracracy -- Franz Kafka Kent Williams kent@inav.net (319) 338 6053 (home) (319) 626 6700 x 219 (work) (319) 626 3489 (fax)

You must be joking! He plays LIVE ... he is alive, have you not seen the way he taps his feet to the beat? Joking apart, I've seen mu-ziq play live in Rotterdam, twiddling his knobs, cursing his mouse ... it's not all pre-programmed ... he distorts and squeeks on the job. Have you ever seen a idm act before? What do you want? go-go dancers? (then I suggest Quazar, yuk!) In fact that mu-ziq gig was the second best act I saw last year. Locust was my number one (of course). vpn> Nothing more, and sorry but this is not what i expects from vpn> a live-gig. This was very very very boring, what a dull guy. Well, he gave me (and my friends) lots of smiles ... and talking to him is an extreme pleasure. He's friendly, helpful and *above all* dedicated to his music. vpn> And the people? Excuse me for my outburst, but you give the Dutch a bad name ... perhaps it's the lights? Helen

I've seen him twice now too, the first was at a Live Wires do (small crowd/small venue) where he rocked it and had everyone jumping. Second was as Jake S at The Astoria 2 (small crowd, bigger venue), here the vibe was not quite the same, but he was not at all 'boring'. Is he supporting Orbital for their Albert Hall date? Nice combo... jeff
