new wax i got today:
Underground Resistance: Electronic Warfare (designs for sonic revolution)
UR-033
Logic Bomb / Fiber Optic Commando / Electronic Warfare (vocal) / Electronic
Warfare (inst) / Electronic Warfare (oz speaks) / Biosensors In Tunnel
Complex Africa / Install "Ho Chi Minh" Chip / The Illuminator
Hefty double-pack from Mad Mike, and he lives up to his name yet again cos
this shit is MAD. Huge electrobeats. Funky "wikkity" noises. Mind
boggling syncopation. Throbbing miami bass tones on the title cut.
"Illuminator" is 15 minute epic of gorgeous arpeggios and heart-tugging
chords. You can't live without this.
The Wizard Of Oh
Tricked Out TR003
Off To Demention X / Terminal Intensity / Titanium White / White Beats
This is my favorite crazy New Yorker, Omar Santana with some mad breakbeats
'n' huge pounding electro mayhem. Intense assaulting fun happy stomp
music. Like the Chemical Brothers after a five day crystal binge.
The Outcasts: Transit
Immortal IMM 006
Transit / Incident In Paris / Transit cabal remix
Hmm, neatly segueing into the current 45/33 debate... I have no idea what
speed this thing should be at. I HOPE to god that it's 33 because if it
is, it's the coolest record I've heard in a long time. If it's 45, then I
deduct several points. Anyway, "Transit" at 33 reminds me of early Meat
Beat Manifesto - raw and throbbing and endlessly cool. 15 minutes of a
monstrous groove that you just can't fuck with. Distorted drum machines
used tastefully and to great effect (none of that afx nonsense). I'm all
over it like white on rice.
