About my little IDM list: I put C&C Music Factory on there cause it was the crappiest most watered down dance act I could think of. Perhaps you know a few more deserving? At any rate, Autechre is at the bottom becuase their songs rely less on melody than Aphex and U-ziq, and are therefore a little harder to swallow. Also, try going into a record store and asking for an Autechre record and the guy usually looks at you like you've just cussed at him. Aphex and U-ziq are a little more well know, though you usually have to ask for U-ziq as "You-Zeek." Then the guy gets it...."oh yeah...." -Fresh ========================================================================= Fullerton College claims no responsibility to the opinion expressed above (This is an automatic stamp from our Email system and not from the user.) =========================================================================

Sorry for my last incomplete message - I need to replace my track ball because it generates extra mouse clicks when I LET GO of the button. | Also, try going into a record store and asking for an Autechre | record and the guy usually looks at you like you've just cussed | at him. Aphex and U-ziq are a little more well know, though you | usually have to ask for U-ziq as "You-Zeek." Then the guy gets | it...."oh yeah...." I guess we should feel lucky here in Bellevue, despite being "uncool" in the opinion of most Seattle dwellers. Anyway, when I payed for "Salsa with Mesquite," the guy actually started off the conversation by saying it was an excellent CD and he even recommended that I pick up "In Pine Effect" which he said was even better. I still haven't met the person in charge of ordering for their IDM section because I tend to be there just before they close at midnight. Is there any general policy change going on with Tower that might negatively affect IDM being sold there? The reason I ask is that the IDM section at the Seattle Center location has completely disappeared, with the stock being scattered throughout the massive pop/rock bins. I used to find it very convenient to walk into that Tower and get all my browsing done on one aisle, where I was more likely to see new releases from bands that I temporarily forgot about. I'm hoping that this change is limited to some stupid manager at that one store. B

You know, you're right. I still don't get into my autechre records (amber & tri repetae)... cos they have few melodies or development, just all wierd beats and structures. This means they are really good I guess... errmmm... minimalists, in the true avant garde tradition. Yes, this does make them a tad esoteric too. My friends will swallow Wagon Christ and Jake Slazenger, tolerate Mu Ziq and Afx, but will just kill me if I play autechre (except for the breakdancers, who dig the electrobeats). So I see your point.

Errrmmm... I gave up asking record clerks for idm long ago. They always look puzzled, and I hate to torture them, you know? I just go straight to the "u" section to find mu-ziq. Egad.
