Someone mentioned this phrase in a previous post. Although Nettwerk hasn't been up to snuff recently, I have to give a recommendation to a group that they co-released with Antilles Records called The Grassy Knoll. Despite the Kennedy-esque title, this one is a must have for fans of both idm and Ac*d J*zz (is that a taboo term now?). Tape loops spin furiously, funky James Brown-esque beats pound relentlessly and unholy sax and trumpet solos vie for control. Although not quite definition idm, it IS intelligent, and very, VERY dancable. And that, it seems, is the last good thing Nettwerk released. While I'm here, I thought I'd ask a few more questions that have been on my mind. 1) Does Evolution Records (as in "The Theory of Evolution" comp.) still exist? Are those records mentioned on the inside available in even remotely findable quantities? Mailorder? I know I'm grasping at straws, but I thought I'd ask. 2) Is there a chance in hell that there will be an _Artificial Intelligence III_? Or is that series D.O.A.? Thanks, Chris

Yes. While I'm not sure I know what _was_ the last thing Nettwerk released, since I haven't heard from them in a long time, this album is recommendable for its experimentalness. There are two versions of it, one has like 3 more tracks on it, I believe. This album took a _long_ time to grow on me but it's something that somehow seems to fill a gap. -Horsepower -lammers@tc.msu.edu

Yeah, although it seems to have changed its name to Universal Language - due to another label calling itself Evolution (a gabber label I think - ack). They've also picked up a distribution deal with RTM or someone, so they should be easier to find now.

Uh, nope. || [CiM] || s.walley@uea.ac.uk || http://www.sys.uea.ac.uk/~u9323899/
