Now that the topic seems to be LFO: I have a question and some comments.
What's the deal with the US release of Frequencies on Tommy Boy Records?
Tracks like "You Have To Understand," "El Ef Oh!" and "Love is the Message"
are mislabelled with the wrong track number. It seems like "Track 14" is
actually sequenced as track 7, and "Simon from Sydney" clocks in at 5:05
instead of 4:35 as marked, unless it is actually some other track. I haven't
heard the remixes of tunes like "Tan Ta Ra," so it's hard for me to be sure of
which you're talking about when those of you on this mailing list mention
favorite or distinctive tracks from Frequencies.
I gave a quick listen to Advance before the thread really got going, and I
didn't think it was all that bad. It did not make me want to purchase it
right away, but I still had not gotten into Frequencies, which I only got this
month, finally. What really hit me about Advance was the bass, although the
headphones probably don't reproduce as well as my subs. The melodies were a
bit on the simple side, but this seemed stylistically similar to Kraftwerk. I
must admit that I am no a big fan or expert on either LFO or Kraftwerk. I do
remember reading that LFO take credit for the deep bass trend in techno.
