About this whole DJ vs. Artists debate thats going on:
About 3 years ago I gradually begin to discover IDM through the routes
probably alot of other people on this list did as well: Orbital, 808
State, and The Orb. I was totally fascinated by this music and soon it
was all I listened to. Although this music was and is considered 'dance'
music one of the first things I discovered when talking to the 'ravers'
I knew is that they had no knowledge about the music they danced to!
They didn't know any of the artists or songs, but knew every DJ by
heart. This is still true today. The 'rave' scene as it exists to my
mind has little to do with the IDM we all love.
