Are they going to be coming up to the Vancouver B.C. area, Seattle even???? When they here of the way, The Highest minds practice it; The average minds think about it And try it now and then; The lowest minds laugh at it. If they did not laugh at it, It would not be the way. - Lao-tse - ( From "The Tao of Pooh" )

Lsat time | they played they got realy disgusted w the audience & quit playing | after 20 minutes. | Che Hmm, I doubt that I have the full picture, but I would blame the failure of Autechre's last Seattle appearance on the choice of venue. I suppose we are talking about the same date, if Autechre have indeed only played here once. I don't know who chose The Underground Dance Club, but I did not go because I didn't have a good time when I checked out that place before the Autechre date (plus, I really wasn't familiar with Autechre at the time). In my opinion, The Underground Dance club doesn't attract exactly the right audience. They certainly qualify for "DM," but they're missing the "I" factor that is so important in "IDM." I have no idea if I speak for anyone else, but I think Autechre would have done better to play a venue like The Showbox (where Banco de Gaia recently appeared). I will admit, The Showbox may not have been an option at the time of Autechre's visit, as they have been through some changes (The Showbox is notorius for being the site of an earlier decade's punk scene, after which they stopped doing music gigs until recently). In any event, there must be many places better than TUDC. Of course, now I would probably show up anywhere in Seattle to have a chance to hear Autechre, but I would hope that an appropriate venue would be chosen. I would like to see everybody having a good time and appreciating the music to the full extent. On a historical note, a very good local dj told me at the time that I missed a great concert by not attending the Autechre event. So it seems that it was a good experience for some. Brian
