I don't consider myself an avid Front 242 fan since I haven't purchased
any of their stuff since "The Hunted" back in the day. But I'm a sucker
for remixes so I gave this remix package a try and I was very impressed.
- 2 Orb mixes were excellent headtrips in the same vein as the Innershpere
remixes. The 3rd Orb mix was rather trancy with 242 vocals fading in and
out producing a rather unimpressive sound.
- The 2 Underworld mixes were great. The first was an excellent ambient dub
mix and the 2nd was a faster dance mix. IMHO The best Underworld mixes yet.
- A pleasent suprise was the mix by Rico Conning(?). Very dubby & trippy with
a catchy piano melody behind a cool idm beat. Very Cab Vo sounding.
- The 4 tracks remixed by 242 themselves were also suprisingly good.
- The 2 Prodigy mixes were breakbeat nonesense. Fast, noisy & uninteresting.
I was happy with this collestion. It's nice to see these old heros put together
a contemporary sounding release. Don't get me wrong, this comp won't be in my
top 10 of 96, but it's definitely worth the $22 I paid for it. 7/10
Hope that helps!
