AGCG said was much in an interview - he said that _Voodoo Ray_ was him trying to replicate that Detroit sound but kind of screwing it up. Brilliant track - pretty formative for me. "Ayyy-a-ha..."

The best (and earliest?) version of which is on _Quadrastate_. Fantastic ending. || [CiM] || s.walley@uea.ac.uk || http://www.sys.uea.ac.uk/~u9323899/

Don't forget about 808 State's lp Newbuild from 1988 that Gerald is on, I absolutely love that album. Also they did some other projects together like the Lounge Jays-Sex Mechanic, and Hit Squad Manchester. derek 0--\___/--\___/---0 moses@teleport.com

any fan of gerald/808 state's pacific state should check the b-side of gerald's "fx" released major label columbia style "specific hate" also featuring mayday's take on "fx" in my opinion the real a side was the b. in the spirit of the remix discussion... ______________________________________________________________________________ Cameron psu00110@odin.cc.pdx.edu Blacksmith on the anvil in your ear Electronica for the Jaded and Discerning ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ On Thu, 1 Feb 1996, CiM wrote:

...Specific Hate being a particularly clever snipe at the 808 boys in the wake of Gerald's departure after Pacific State.... Che

with regards to "Pacific State", i have the quadrastate ep but i also have an older compilation (name eludes me) which has the *exact* same track, "pacific state" but it is credited to Go No Go. is this a pre 808-state moniker for the same group or what is the deal? -- Mark Bowen mb@gettins.bche.uic.edu

Isn't that a crappy italo cover version, not half as good? Have a listen I _think_ you'll find that while it replicates the beats, tune etc. it's not actually the same recording.
