Actually I would say that STUMP rules. They´re probably much better. Has anybody heard the Irresistible Force remix of Charlton Heston? It´s great. daniel.lindeberg@mailbox.swipnet.se

wow... i had forgot all about them, but yeah, they are awesome. back when i was first getting into synths 'n' such i did a pretty lame tinkly synth 'n' drumbox cover of "the song's remains" and the irresistible force remix ("in glorious STUMP-O-RAMA") is pretty nifty... charlton heston put his vest on (richard burton put his shirt on!?!?) -- Name: Jon Email: jsd@cyborganic.com Web: http://www.cyborganic.com/bass-kittens/

"lights, camel, action" Cool, I wasn't the only person who bought that album. :) Unfortunately, I guess they broke up due to an unrelenting drubbing from the English music press who felt they weren't "fashionable" enough. Whatever. Anyone know if any of those guys are still in the music biz? The things they were doing back in '87 foreshadowed much of the best "post-rock" stuff that's going on now (Tortoise, et. al), IMO -- dave walker, detroit art services _ marmoset@mich.com born freeke Dave Walker

I heard they had reformed, about 2(?) years ago. No results have come to my attention. Kev Hopper (bass player) released a single (The Sound Of Gyroscopes) with an excellent b-side called Pool Song, made (as far as I can recall) entirely from samples collected from a pool table. He also released an album, which I haven't heard, and can't remember its title Rob.

On the Richie Hawtin cd... The liner notes for the import say "Mixing/Digital Restructuring/Additional Production & Effects by Richie Hawtin." So, I'd say that all you are hearing is not fader action. Ie, Teste's "The Wipe" sounds like it went through a filter or a thingamabobie. I will admit it's a nice mix. Goio's "Basic Needs" into FUSE's "Substance Abuse" is my favorite mix on the mix. Andrew -- Andrew Bennett abennett@hyperreal.com, abennett@cruzio.com http://taz.hyperreal.com/~abennett/
