I certainly agree. Although the Orb (Alex Paterson & Jimmy Cauty) invented ambient house, the KLF's "Chill out" was the first ambient house _album_ to be released, and it gets better each time you listen to it. Nevertheless it was recorded in two days!!! ********************* * Johan Jaatinen * * aniag@info.liu.se * *********************

I also think... :-))) ... and also give them a lot of credit... yes!

what is house in that "Chill out" album?! I think the KLF "Space" album is much closer to house and ambient.

well, I start to hate that steel-guitar! But otherwise it's a great record.

.. and they tried it over and over again... didn't they record it in one time finally?! And later played some tunes over the recording... According to the production method it's not a normal record at all. It's a mix with some additions and that's what makes it so unique. I tried it several times myself.... mixing and just grabbing some strange records out of my collection.... from Beatles to Monty Python, Bobby McFarrin and Pink Floyd and all mixed up with ambient techno-tunes from Air Liquide to Jeff Mills and of course a lot of KLF. I really like those mixes... :-)) "what the f*ck is going on?" greetingz, Harald +--------------------------------------------------+ | Internet: harald.schmitz@hrz.uni-essen.de | | hschmitz@apolonia.essen.rhein-ruhr.de | |==================================================| | WWW -> http://rave.city.de/wicked | | > Techno, Ruhrarea, Detroit, Flyer, Tresor,... | +--------------------------------------------------+

Well I paid homage to Cauty & Drummond by naming my NT-w(h)or(e)(k)station chilloutroom.eskom.co.za F.king brillo album although we were doing this thing live on campus radio in 1990 as well.
