Hi all:
RE: cable -dsl thread ( relative to idm as bandwidth relates to the
speed of our music downloads....)
I've had a dsl line for just over a month and all that I can say is,
"when it *works*, it's great". Perhaps I am one of the "small group"
of folks ( my provider claims I'm one of a 5% group who experience
line problems ) whose lines are sensitive and problematic. I love it
when it works but when the line is down, its like I'm without bread
and water . This is a scary thing. I unsubbed from my old dial up
line so when I'm down, I'm down.
I can only speak of US experiences as I don't know dsl technology in
the rest of the world. I believe that some cities and some
geographies have better coverage. As the prices are going down and
cable technologies are knocking on the back door I would'nt know
what to recommend, getting dsl or waiting. Take a chance; most dsl
lines are *barely* more than typical isp monthly charges.
RE: music : has Christoph Heeman ever put out ( released, produced,
etc. ) a techno recording? Listening to his experimental ambient
stuff makes me wonder how he'd do it. He's phenomenal.
RE: this list:
Thanks all,
Peter Becker
np: a stack of vinyl I found in a garbage barrel under a pile of
snow.....and some Kompakt 12"s, and some Severed Heads and that new
fuckin' D'angelo.
