Actually, the biggest threat to the health of the list is the increasing fraction of cynical, self-obsessed diatribes on just what it is/isn't. These posts create an environment that is increasingly cold and cruel to those very elements of tentativeness and exploration that is the list's lifeblood. They do absolutely nothing to further the interests of anyone on the list (except perhaps the sense of self-importance of the person who posts them). We're supposed to be here because we enjoy IDM, variously-defined, and want to further our explorations. These bitter, sometimes self-loathing posts are like the guy at the party who needs to make sure that when he isn't having fun, no one else is, either. They are juvenile and self- centered no matter how loquacious and "intelligent". -Ed --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
