im looking to get into the more noisy/experimental side of things so i went looking around at my local shop's experimental section to get some ideas. i ran across several cds by francisco lopez that looked promising. all of them were called "untitled XX" where XX is some number like 81 etc. any thoughts on his work? basically im looking for stuff along the lines of: roel meelkop, ryoji ikeda, vaisanen/vainio, lithops, kim cascone's blue cube material. (actually these are the few artists in the genre that im somewhat familiar with.) any labels names would be great too. thanks! matt ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! I really rate the Ash International label for this type of thing. Francisco Lopez's Untitled #76 appeared on the European part (decay) of their triptych thing. The others were 'chiky(u)u (Japan) and scatter (America). I don't have the American one but the others are excellent. The Japanese one is much more laid back than say, Merzbow. There's one track on it, however, that makes me think I'm encased by rock underground during a huge earthquake (really!). I'm sure Sean Cooper has many more suggestions. -Ed Pond --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

The newest one from Stilluppsteypa "Interferences are Often Requested" on Ritornell is pretty austere and minimal. Also you might want to try Fennesz on Touch records, or the Decay comp on Ash. The entire Modulation Transformation 4 set runs the gamut from ultra-experimental digital processing to more accessible beaty stuff. Also just about anything on Mego (Pita, Farmers Manual) These should all be in the vein of what you're looking for. matt
