"vmstat"? Are we due for a long line of UNIX devotionals from Jon? I want a song for "grep". Maybe a "gnu remix" of the same would be nice too. Is Jon's sequencer multi-threaded? Is Jon multi-threaded?

That's his track from the IDM compilation "Vaporware" ... erm, "Threads" :-) I think he got inspired by the Plug 1, 2 and 3 series. I expect we'll see "iostat" and "nfsstat" soon to follow ... :-) (Maybe my better half should name her as-yet-unfinished album "Yacc".) - Greg

Hey Greg, don't be a dick about 'threads'; Alan told me it has gone to be pressed. It will be out, and I've heard some of the tracks that will be on it. Be prepared for delight. Not only will it be good, it will also be different than most of what you hear from 'real' labels. The best music I hear anymore is stuff I get on tape from other people on the net; they aren't constrained by what will sell, or what some label guy wants to hear. It's from the heart, raw and idiosyncratic. In particular, 'N Am Skywave' by DACC Crowell is a marvelously bent piece of work that is sonically magnificent. DACC has the studio skills to go along with his musical skills.

Aw, c'mon guys, that *is* a ":-)" I see there ... are you really that overly sensitive about it that ya can't have a friendly rib once in a while ...

Hey, the best music I hear is made daily about 10 feet away from where I'm sitting ... (of course, she won't let me play the stereo anymore anyway ... HEY! NO! PUT DOWN THAT ROLLING PIN!) - Greg

Yup, but only after he finishes his Macintosh Icon devotional. The whole concept is quite unique! Instead of naming tracks, he uses Icons! Teep
