Universal Sound-'Asteroids' Man With no Name-'Silicon Trip' Infinity Project-'Squidgy Atomica' Psychaos-'Psychaos' Universal Sound-'Charged' Prana-'Fiesta' Cydonia-'Animals' Infinity Project-'Ego Shredder' Man With No Name-'Adrenosphere' Psychaos-'Perception of Reality' Space Tribe-'Flipout The Dolphin' ------------------------------------------------------------ This is the first of two CD's that I bought relating to the Goa scene(the other is Return To The Source). As you might know, it pains me to buy CD's, but I made an exception in these two cases ONLY. Not a totally whack compilation, but there are some cheezy moments, and I won't even bore you with them. First of all, this is the second volume in the Concept In Dance series, the first of which was called DIGITAL ALCHEMY, and the sleeve work is awesome. Unfortunately, I passed it up completely when it first came out, thinking it was a tribal-ethnic thing on Nova Zembla/Kk, and it "is" on double vinyl. The standouts include 'Silicon Trip', a nice danceable 303 bassline, the intro is outstanding, which makes me want to DJ it every half hour or so, and an unordinary(but normal for goa trance) synth melody throughout. Ear shattering and BPM shattering all in the same track. This track would have been perfect alongside the tracks on F.A.C.T. Fairly harder than 'floor essence'. 'Squidgy Atomica', title says it all. More in tuned to the ethnic side of Goa trance than any of the other tracks. With flutes, and what sounds like a UFO taking off and landing. Beautiful throughout. Be on the lookout for the Total Eclipse stuff at a "good" club near you soon! 'Psychaos' is fuckin mental! Some "out there" shit, and probably a track I'll burn many an ear with on my Goa Trance mixtapes. The hardest track on the CD, with it's brain tingling synths/breakdowns--"Immersed in acid.." Definitely some funky techno, but what happened to Goa? 'Animals' is a cool track with "Eat Static meets Hardfloor" ethnic trance funkiness. "We're not animals, we're human beings..." 'Ego Shredder' reminds me of some of the tribal techno I used to dj in '92. Wild 303's and rolling drums with "quiet" ambient breakdowns, then comes "that" synth sound. In a way, it's programming reminds one of 'Imajica(acid frost mix)' off The Secret Life of Trance 4 comp. Totally funky! And it still works! It may seem a bit dated and cheesy, but who gives a fuck? You know you're going to get some after the partys' over once it burns some asses on the dancefloor! Man With No Name crops up again with another dancefloor burner, 'Adrenosphere'. Again, gets the job done, but shitty intro! For earlier M.W.N.N. material, check Dragonfly Trance:Project 2, his stuff was just as amazing in '93 as it is today! Finally, Psychaos takes us away with 'Perception of Reality'--stuttering patterns & sound shapes, A little less hardcore than all the other tracks, but still dancefloor friendly with occaisional wig-outs... For a list of full-length goa trance albums, e-mail me or check out the Goa trance home page--http://mkn.co.uk/help/extra/people/goatrance, also if you're interested in Goa mixtapes, or any other style of mix, send private e-mail to me, give me your address, and I'll send what I can to you.
