Try Bernard Parmegiani's "De Natura Sonorum" for a bit of fine 70s
electro-acoustic stuff. It actually bears resemblance to Bartok's "Music
for strings percussion and celeste", the "fabric woven with a single
thread" approach. It doesn't really fit in with the Stockhausen aesthetic
but is certainly worthy of purchase, and much less effort than
Stockhausen(if that suits).

Yeah, I bought it today and it's excellent. I can't read all the info on
the "sleeve", it's just a badly photocopied blur(just like the production).
I can make out the following.
Radiance 1,2 and 3
Presence
Q(?) 1 and 2
e2e4 basic reshape
There are 11 tracks in total. All very deep minimal stuff with
plenty of static and production noise that gives it an irresistable
intimacy. There's the occasional funky riff surfaces from the depths but
only to lightly tickle the texture. I love it, possibly the most
expressive stuff I've heard for ages.
