Thought this was interesting. From TBP web site: __Is it new, or isn't it?__ Parallel - The Black Dog No, it isn't new material, and I am very sorry if you have been misled into thinking otherwise. Sadly, the situation has been out of my control. The Black Dog had no participation in compilation, artwork, release dates, or any other thing beyond initially recording the tracks and selling them to GPR. The new new album from The Black Dog is still being recorded, and is on target for a release date of March 15th 1996. And, there will be several other "interesting" projects surfacing before then. If you did buy it, then thank you very much. It stands as a record of our early days, but not much more. We have moved on a lot since then, and will try to make it up to you in the future, now that we're less niave.

Parallel is the GPR comp. (nicey gatefold btw!) The "Yeah, just Ken" was in reference to the up and coming Black Dog Productions (warp?). I do believe. Teep while we're at it, what's the poop on this crap... As One We No Longer Understand Repeat Repeats Funki Porcini King Ashabanapal

Don't know about this one, but this could be the forthcoming album on New Electronica. There is a track from the Muzik tape that might be on this album('The Spell').

A compilation of some previously released stuff on A13 & GPR I think. Hopefully, I'll be getting this and the Parallel Comp. at the same time, and do a nice little ditty about the two. BTW, Repeat is Mark Broom & Plaid, for those not in the know...

Poop indeed. :) *Major* disappointment from Mr. DeGiorgio, IMHO. Whereas we know he's more than capable of putting some honest-to-goodness from-the-gut SOUL in his tracks, these four simply sound wishy-washy and pointless. No focus, just noodling.

I listened to the 12", but the CD has one or two more tracks I believe. Dillinja's remix is a pretty bog-standard amen affair, Digidub didn't make a dent in my recall of their mix, and Plaid also seem to swing and miss with too much quirk and not enough...Plaid-ness, ya know? And since I don't really dig Funky Porcini's own stuff anyway.... - Matthew (what, me negative? :) )

Yeah, much better graphics quality from GPR than TOTB. So nice to hear some of these finally. And nice to re-hear one or two tracks long unidentified and long forgotten. Was Vanttool what you'd hoped? Reminds me a bit of Norte Route. So, besides Black Dog proper, where does Ken fit into the BDP universe? e.g. Plaid and Tura are just Ed and Andy, but what about Balil, Atypic, etc.?

Picked up the first one today, temporarily passed on the second (wasn't in that Raxmus mood). The As One is adequate. It's a bit too much early- seventies-lava-lamp-fuck for me on the back, but I figure it'll grow on me (if I can get Parallel offa the turntable, that is). (choo-choo) I spied the listing for the new As One LP _Celestial Soul_ on Flute(?). I guess it just came out in the UK. So far hasn't shown up on any distributors lists here in SF though. soon... soon... j ! | J M R T N K O | fonstrosities and other toys by ILLGBLITY ENGNRING. | | D S G N E T C | JOHN-A MARTINKO, w. desk chief martinko@netcom.com |

Yeah, I agree. Another track that sounds just like _Nort Route_ is by Thomas Heckman on his Drax picture disc (the one with _Amphetamine_ on it) - it uses those same pitch bending chords. Quite nice though... || [CiM] || s.walley@uea.ac.uk || http://www.sys.uea.ac.uk/~u9323899/
