Hi, I bought Red Planet 6 today, and it's excellent. I don't know much about this series, except that it comes out of Detroit, and judging by the sound, has something to do with UR... Can any of you helpful people tell me more about these releases (ie how many, who by, any interesting info)? Thanks a lot... see ya _________________________________________________ tom churchill e-mail: tom@chrchfam.demon.co.uk electronic musician/dj _________________________________________________

Red Planet is basically UR on a more trancey tip and is one of my favourite labels by a long way! Most of the records (Red Planet 1 thru 6) were produced by Mad Mike (aka The Martian here), Eddie "Flashin'" Fowlkes helped on RP3 and Juan Atkins (the man!) helped on RP4. If you can find any more records on Red Planet buy them... especially Red Planet 2, you *need* to have the tracks on that record (Star Dancer and Cosmic Movement) or RP4. btw, I havent heard RP6 yet... but if its anything like the other reasons you'll recognise funky drum programming, majestic martian atmospheres, basslines, visions! Could you please send me a review of it? Cheers! Brendan Nelson Lost Transmission from Uxbridge

The Red Planet label is affiliated with the UR/Submerge organization. As far as who's behind them, its the Martians, just like it says on the label. :) RP6 is the 6th release on the label, oddly enough... They're all still in print, as far as I know (email submerge@msen.com for details). There have been production assistance/remixes/etc. on the various releases from people like Eddie Fowlkes, Juan Atkins, Drexciya, and the Suburban Knight. As far as favorites go, it's hard to pick one but RP4 gets talked about quite favorably, and I'd call "ultraviolet images" from RP3 one of my favorite tracks, ever. Meanwhile, RP6 sits at home, unplayed, until I can get my turntable unpacked... -- dave walker, detroit art services _ marmoset@conch.aa.msen.com born freeke Dave Walker
