Alex Reece - I Want You/B-Boy Flavour (Metalheadz 12) ----------------------------------------------------- Following rapidly from 'Pulp Fiction', the unstoppable Reece produces another double A-sided classic. 'I Want You' combines soft female vocals with his trademark two-step drums and snippets of jazz. Live acoustic bass, flute and electric piano form a delicious tune. 'B-Boy Flavour' is more minimal, with effected, wordless snatches of vocal, snatches of flute, dreamy pads making this a deep, crisp drum 'n' bass tune. Aquarius and Tayla - Bringing Me Down/Soul Searching (Good Looking 13) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Typically dreamy stuff from Bukem's imprint, served up by an alias of the very prolific Rupert Parkes. Dolphin atmospherics, sweeping analogue pads and fragments of female vocal make 'Bringing me Down' an absolutely beautiful track. 'Soul Searching' on the flip is a harder 'Amen' track, with more dreamy pads completing the picture. Parkes has got an album in progress, and it should be stunning if he maintains his current standard. I've got a copy of Jay Majik's 'Needlepoint Majik' (Metalheadz 13) reserved - can't wait! see ya _________________________________________________ tom churchill e-mail: tom@chrchfam.demon.co.uk electronic musician/dj _________________________________________________
