Has anybody heard this Steel CD on Mille Plateaux? Very hard, grinding material with a lot happening underneath for added amusement. Actually, it does shift between thunderous beats and disturbing ambience...but always roughly textured. I'm guessing fans of RDJ, M. Paradinas, and the latest Locust disc might take an interest in this. It's one of those one-track-for-twenty-song-titles CDs though -- in other words, don't plan on skipping trough it in a hurry.

Damn. I was coveting it the last time I was in a shop, but my wallet said "leave". There's a great Steel track on the M.P. comp "Modulation and Transformation II" (Oval/Scanner/Air Liquide/Global Electronic Network/Cristian Vogel/Alec Empire/ Steel) which piqued my interest in them. Speaking of piqued my interest, I noticed that there's a Freeform full-length CD out. Anyone have that? Is it a funk monster like the SKAM EP material? - Greg

this disc is pretty hard to digest... to me it also often sounds like a dj's nightmare, with those seperate layers that don't quite match up in tempo or feel... i believe lots of the stuff is sampled, however the overall sound is very coherent (noisy)... another record by biochip c. that doesn't quite sound like anything he did before... cheers, p.
