Is he actually signed to Warner Brothers, or are they just licensing his Warp output through that Warp-WB subsidiary deal? I'd guess that if they are licensing it, it's not costing them as much compared to what they might pay him out-right for his output. I would say that RDJ's latest electronic ramblings don't really fit the corporate mold at WB. "Cow Cud is a Twin" still sounds to me like a demo track of sorts. Not good for an artist they (potentially) could be paying big bucks for. IMHO, of course. Andrew is correct. The way I understand it, the 6 album deal he signed with Warp covered everywhere except the United States and parts of Asia (?) where they would be licensed to WB's. :: Alan M. Parry :: fluid@hyperreal.com :: <finger me for PGP key> :: http://hyperreal.com/~fluid

There is a Warp licensing deal involved, but I believe that RDJ is getting something directly out of Warners for his trouble as well. At least Warner's wanted him to come over and promote SAWII. He, characteristically, told them to piss off, from what I heard. -- Pat Robertson thinks he prayed away the hurricane. I think my prayers make him grin and squint all the time for no reason. kent.williams@cadsi.com [Kent Williams/CADSI/2651 Crosspark Rd/Coralville IA 52241/(319)626-6700]

From the Aphex Twin promo CD "Words and Music" "So I expressed a very strong interest in putting the stuff out which, errm, I just thought they were gonna think `oh, this fuckin' artist', you know, `not Aphex Twin, he's a pain in the arse. He wants to do triple albums and not put any track titles on his albums' and things like that, and I just thought they were gonna go mental but they've been really cool, not bad at all actually. So, you know, when I signed this deal, errm, I have total control and, you know, my own label, which is brilliant - about the biggest loophole that any artist has ever gotten at Warner Brothers probably." :: Alan M.
