I heard a rumour from an usually trustworthy source
of mine that Jimi Tenor of our Sahko/Puu Recordings
fame has just made a deal with WARP Records.
This can of course be taken with that proverbial
grain of salt at this stage, but somehow it doesn't
seem so unlikely to me with the stuff like Red
Snapper and N.O.W.'s (apparently more trip hop
sounding?) album coming from WARP these days.
So we'll just wait and see.
BTW, Panasonic's album will be coming out from Blast
First at the end of September, according to NME. I
just attended yesterday the Subaquatic Party here in
Tampere held as part of our Night of Arts festival,
with Sahko's Tommi Gronlund and Mika Vainio (aka O/
and 1/3 of Panasonic) DJing.
They started with some Kohina-esque ambient
industrial headfuck noise, and turned eventually to
playing everything from some harder acid to the
classic Detroit/Chicago stuff like "Techno City" and
"Where's Your Child" to house, minimal techno and
jungle to some easy listening! And despite all that
variety, it all just worked out fine! I just wish
our local DJ's would also be as unbiased as that -
lately it's only been cheesy house/t**p h*p/acid jazz
here in Tampere... Where's the fucking attitude,
boys and girls? ;)
