Hello-
As far as IDM is concerned, the best shops in Orlando would be these 3: BAD MOOD
RECORDS in Downtown, which is most specialized to more experimental forms of
dance music and IDM, both on CD and 12" vinyl, UNDERGROUND RECORD SOURCE on
Mills Avenue, which is mainly a DJ shop, specializing in more popular titles in
underground dance (paradox?), and VINYL FRONTIER near downtown on highway 50 and
I-4, which does more of the groovy/trip hop sort of stuff, mainly on vinyl. No
real IDM clubs in Orlando, though Firestone is usually hopping on Saturday
nights and sometimes has some very progressive guests. A new downtown club
called Rennaissance should be open soon, and looks to be interesting as well...
may be open when you get here. I may be DJing in the chill out/backroom of
downtown's Barbarella every Friday starting the 25th, and I do a mixture of
"electro-jazz/ambient soul/beat noir". Word of warning, though: the main room is
pretty pop-house/alternative style.
Don't know much about Tampa, but I do know dance music stores to check would be
Alternative Records and Now Hear This. A club to check would be Masquerade...
they do different things on different nights but I know the Rabbit In The Moon
clan have residency there.
Daytona? You're out of luck. No IDM that I know of there at all.
Hope this information helps.
