I think, simply, that it is a hyper form of jazz. Ya know? I suppoed they could have called it hyper-jazz, but doesn't that sound silly? Besides, I've neve heard any 303s in acid-jazz, have you? - stevenJ

Depends what you call acid jazz, I guess, but on React's Dope on Plastic compilation they have some definitve 303 stuff going on. It's also probably a bit more relevant to this list, with stuff by Red Snapper, etc. :) Hey, that's a thought: has anyone heard any other Red Snapper stuff, and, if so, what is it like? I hear they have a full-length release coming out on Warp, but find what I've heard so far a bit so-so. Dope on Plasic is NOT acid jazz - if it has to be labelled then trip-hop is more appropriate, though not ideal - it's a pretty eclectic (and very fine, IMO) collection. There's only a bit of 303 in one track, as far as I can tell, though...

It's called 'Reeled and Skinned' and it's basically a collection of their EPs on Flaw. I like it - even though it's very non-electronic and jazzy stuff. The Sabres remix of Hot Flush is superb, and the rest is generally very good - very different from Warp's usual output anyway...
