Has anyone heard the new album by David Holmes? If so, what's it like? I heard the NME call it "indie-techno" (????). Just curious, Michael Baspaly

Yes, and I love it. It's not all banging techno anthems - in fact hardly any of it is. The first track, No Man's Land, is an atmospheric piece evoking prison life, starting with church bells and someone being locked up, lots of heartbeats and military drums, top-drawer stuff. I haven't really got beyond this, not to be able to review, anyway, but one track was co-written with Jah Wobble, and another has vocals by Sarah Cracknell ( from St. Etienne). Most of it is quite mellow, and if someone else doesn't beat me to it I may have a bash at reviewing it proper. This is a threat, boys and girls, you'd better get your skates (and reviewing hats) on :-) Rob. I think I need to update my spellcheck - this one doesn't recognise "techno".

It's called _This Film's Crap, Let's Slash the Seats_ and is on the English label Go Discs. I haven't heard it yet so...sorry, no review. :( - Matthew "I grew up thinking that techno music is actually something that you can't imagine. That is techno at its best. If you hear something that you'd never expect to hear - that's techno. If you hear something that kind of sounds like you've heard it before, then it's not techno." - Jeff Mills

Sorry, this album is not mellow at all (except in a place or two). I was confused by the fact that it didn't all sound like "Belfast-Fusion", his remix of Sven Vath's Ballet-Fusion. If you're in the UK, don't pay more than 999p for it - I found my copy in Our Price (Mostly We Rip You Off) at that price. Rob.

"this film's crap, let's slash the seats" on Go Discs title sounds good, let's hope the music's equally good Kuri
