Survival Research Labs is headed by Mark Pauline who did blow most of one hand up. He had a toe grafted onto his hand as a replacement thumb. And I thought navel piercing was extreme. I've seen (but not heard) a picture disk 10" of robot wars. The art was cool anyway... -- "When the mud-shark start to cirkle the Nagra-Man feed him: Wiener-Wurst" "... I was born in. 1944 ... actually, the robots battling it out on stage bit has been done before, and done to death. from the dusty cobwebs of my mind, i seem to remember a bunch of very psychotic and intelligent people breaking into places, stealing electronics and very advanced equipment to build giant robots and have them destroy each other on stage. in the option magazine with richard james on the cover, there is a segment on performance artists and one artist who performs such robot wars... unless i remember incorrectly, survival research lab. did a lot of the original robot performance art...i also seem to remember the man who headed it all blowing off his hand trying to build an insanely powerful laser, heh. -- o _/,_ . /o...\__// fk453@cleveland.freenet.edu \_'__/``\` iSo \'

That 10" (which sounds like nothing on the "Increased Difficulty" LP, I might add), is, as they say, phat like Shelley Winters. The A-side is hard to describe, big chunky bassline, electro-influenced percussion, and a truly scorching acid "solo" towards the middle. The B-side is a lot mellower, and sounds more like the LP version. dave walker, detroit art services _ marmoset@conch.aa.msen.com born freeke Dave Walker
